The Gracie Messy Bun Beanie by Crochet it Creations

Crocheted by EJ YarnKnots using the Gracie Messy Bun Beanie Pattern by Crochet-it-Creation Pattern purchased on Raverly.com Please visit her webiste. http://www.crochetitcreations.com

Okay, let’s start with how cute this pattern is! The Gracie Messy Bun Beanie is a paid-for pattern by Crochet it Creations. Created by Jessica Cooper, and I will not be giving away anything about the pattern itself. Instead, I will be discussing the ease of reading and using her pattern, whether I had any issues with the pattern, and if I was satisfied with the pattern. I will also touch on what yarn I used.

So, first, let’s talk about whether I think this is beginner friendly and the answer is I would say advanced beginners can pump this pattern out with no problems. Now, if you are just starting out and haven’t done much with boards or aren’t comfortable with the structure of stitches, I would hold off on this one. While there is nothing too complicated, in fact, it is great with using simple stitches to achieve a fabulous finished product. There are some areas where if you are not comfortable with the structure of stitches, you could run into some problems. However, if you have worked up a few projects with some boarders and are comfortable with those, then this is a pattern for you!

Great things about it include learning a few new stitches. If you have never done back loop only, post stitches or worked camel stitch, get ready to add these techniques to your skills! Jessica Cooper did a great job of including tips for working her pattern, made it easy to follow and even has videos showing you some of her tricks. You get the child size and the adult sizes, which is great! And if you’re not into messy bun hats, Crochet It Creations has you covered with the Ana Beanie.

Was I satisfied with my purchase? YES. The pattern cost USD 4.00 and was well worth it. I will be working up a bunch of these. And for just $3.00 more, you can purchase her Ana Series eBook. This includes 7 patterns an excellent buy if you ask me!

Now the yarn I choose to use with this pattern. I used Big Twist Value in the color Light Rose. It is a 100% acrylic yarn and is soft. The yarn did not split on me which made working with it a breeze. I did get some yarn throw up when I pulled out my center to start working with it. But that is just part of the crochet world when you pull from the center of a ball.

All things considered, this is a great pattern to build up some confidence with for those who are comfortable with the structure of their stitches. If you are not yet comfortable with the structure of your stitches, don’t worry, my next post will have a pattern that will have you feeling like an accomplished crocheter in no time..

Till next time, Happy Crocheting!
